Amplifier Efficiency



  • An amplifiers efficiency rating is simply the ratio of power consumed by the circuit to the power that is output as useful signal.

  • Pin / Pout

  • eg. When pushed to maximum distortion a 100 watt Marshall can deliver 175 watts and consumes 375 watts. It is 47% efficient under full power and less so when run without distortion.
