Class C



  • A component (transistor, tube, Jfet etc) in Class C mode is biased to operate through less than half of the entire cycle of an applied AC signal.

  • A Class C circuit will operate for less than 180 degrees (or 50%) of the signal, either positive or negative.

  • Class C is not a linear amplifier and is not used in audio circuits.

  • Class C is used mostly in radio transmitters for the carrier signal.
